We know what "physics" means (from "physis" or nature). "Meta" can mean "above," and maybe that's not a bad way of thinking of what metaphysics is: a set of issues that are "above" physics in the sense that they are more abstract or general. Intuitions of abstract objects concern meaning, and in general the ordinary sense of "intuition" (Intuition) applies to this. In order to explain the nature of poetic imitation, which occurs through language, al-Farabi draws heavily upon its similarities to imitation through action, for example, in the making of statues or in performative imitations. In this same spirit, the discussions are rich with examples drawn from both "high art" and "popular" media, never overused and always on point. One of the prime original motivators of much of the art of the late 1960s and 1970s was to create art that could not be bought and sold.
